Welcome to the Fox & Goose
The Fox & Goose is a traditional pub in the Calder Valley that is at the heart of the community. As the first co-operative pub in West Yorkshire, it is owned and overseen by its users – over 300 of us. We are proud of what we offer, and manager Hannah and her team look forward to welcoming you to our little corner of paradise. In 2024 we are celebrating 10 years since we became a co-operative pub with a series of events and special collab beers - we do hope customers new and old will be able to join us to celebrate!
We serve a wide range of real ales (on 6 handpumps) from microbrewers, as well as real ciders, craft beer and lager on draught. We always have a low-alcohol beer on keg, and a range of continental bottled lagers and beers in the fridge. The Fox and Goose is listed in CAMRA’s Good Beer Guide and has Cask Marque accreditation. In April 2022 we were awarded Halifax and Calderdale CAMRA’s Pub of the Year award for the second time since opening as a co-operative pub. We have also recently been shortlisted for the Social Enterprise Yorkshire & Humber awards in the category of Large Social Enterprise of the Year.
At the Fox & Goose we believe in fairness, which is why we only serve draught beer in lined oversize glasses. That way when you order a pint of beer you get a pint of liquid refreshment plus a creamy head. Most other pubs and bars serve a pint in a "brimful" glass so you don't get a full pint of beer.

We also serve quality wines, spirits, pork pies, vegan pasties, quality teas, barista coffees and tempting fresh cake. On Sundays from noon, food donations collected at St James' Church are available to anyone who needs them.
We are very dog-friendly (just keep them on leads and off the new seats). We also host regular music sessions, some listed on our Events Calendar but many others being impromptu jams.
